How do I access my safe-deposit box?

Clients can access the contents at any point of the day using a touch screen self-service terminal located in a private, secure room. Vault@268 utilizes Multi-layer Identity Authentication with four levels of checks - card key, PIN, Bio-metric scan and key to open the box, requiring no interaction with staff. Access to the room is granted using a card reader. Lockers are accessed using PIN and card which is later opened using a key held only by you.

How do I access my content in the box?

Your personal data on your access card will command a robot to deliver the locker to the ATM

What can I put in a safe-deposit box?

Experts recommend storing birth or marriage certificates, insurance policies, property deeds, rare coins, jewelry, irreplaceable family photos, stock or bond certificates, and currencies – virtually anything of value or any non-replaceable items.
Some people may be reluctant to put items into their boxes because of privacy concerns. But such fears are unfounded, as liability concerns keep banks from prying into safe-deposit contents.

What should I probably not put in a safe-deposit box?

It is important that you do not put an original will, trust instruments, or powers-of-attorney in your safe deposit box. We will be conducting workshops about this.

Is there a weight restriction for my contents?

Yes there is. Vault@268 deploys a robotic system to retrieve/store the safe deposit box from/to the vault, the maximum allowable weight of the box is 30Kg (about 66 lbs). This protects the moving parts of the system. The system has a built in digital weigh which will notify you if the box is too heavy.

Who should know about my safe-deposit box?

Make sure that your family knows that you have a safe deposit box, and where it's located. Better yet, sign a family member on as co-owner of the box. If you don’t tell your survivors about the box, they won’t be able to access Vault@268 to retrieve its contents after you pass on. At some point the box may be considered "unclaimed", and its contents turned over to the authorities for further actions.

Who should have access to my safe-deposit box?

If you rent the box only in your name, you, a power of attorney or agent you designate are the only ones who can get into the locked box. A safe-deposit box rented jointly with a spouse, child or friend means both of you have joint-access.
Experts suggest having a designated power of attorney to handle your financial affairs - including access to your box - in case you are unable to because you are disabled or traveling, among other reasons.

Who can access my safe-deposit box when I die?

Anyone who is a co-renter of the box has immediate access to it upon your death, but what if you are the sole renter of the box? Many wrongly believe a power of attorney has access to the box after you die. However, a power of attorney loses authority to act on your behalf upon your death.
An executor or executrix that you designated to handle your estate after you die would get access to your safe-deposit box, but how quickly depends on the local laws.
If you legally appoint a trustee to oversee assets placed in trust before you die, that individual also would have access to the safe-deposit box upon your death. We will be conducting workshops about this.

Are the contents of my safe-deposit box covered by insurance?

Vault@268 offers the same assurance as a safe-deposit box in a bank or other financial institution. Vault@268 recommends clients obtain adequate insurance to cover the contents of their safe deposit boxes from their insurance agents. An added assurance for your insurance is that your items are placed within a strongroom wall resistance of Grade 8 Certification from European Certification Board (ECB•S). It is a globally recognized certification body for security products.

Off-site storage is widely practiced since the early days for reasons we read in the news worldwide.
If your belongings are covered by insurance, do you really need a safe deposit box? It may be less important for items that can be replaced with insurance money. However, if you have belongings that cannot be duplicated or replaced, such as rare family photos or heirlooms, then an off-site safe deposit box can give them complete protection.

Tip: Place all documents and delicate items in a tightly sealed plastic bag or container before putting them in your safe deposit box. This could help protect them from humidity damage.
